I have worked with patients dealing with fertility issues most of my career. Over this course of time, I have come to appreciate A) How desperate women can become to improve their chances of conception, B) How much there is to learn about fertility/infertility, C) That much of the information available through the internet is unfiltered and often leaves people feeling more confused, D) How expensive and costly this overall process can be, and most of all, E) How exhausting the fertility journey can be, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
I started to offer Fertility Boot Camp about two and half years ago, with a request of a patient, Tracy. Tracy was about 39 years old when she started her journey. After going through own trials and IVF attempts that failed, she started to look for other ways to help her journey–that’s when we met. She expressed her frustration, just like everyone else that I know going through the process, and was disappointed at how she was not provided with all the information that could help her. No one told her about things like acupuncture, diet and life-style changes that could help her. She had to learn this on her own later in her process. This inspired me to create a one-day retreat where individuals or couples could learn the core information to optimize their fertile capacity; and Fertility Birth Camp was born.
For past two and half years, we have offered several Fertility Boot Camps for women with great success and great success stories. Fertility Boot Camp offers core, comprehensive information that integrates both Eastern and Western Medicine on fertility in a very personal and intimate setting. The retreat covers information on nutrition, acupuncture, mind/body techniques, reproductive medicine, and other complementary modalities to enhance fertility. The Fertility Boot Camp even covers financial perspective of going through the fertility process. The participants will take part in a variety of activities from mediation to cooking demos, from mind/body connection exercises to relationship building--going home with materials and information that they can apply immediately to their fertility journey.
Unfortunately, fertility is often seen as the Woman’s issue. Even in couples where the issue is known to be with the male (low sperm count, poor motility, poor morphology, etc), often it will be only the woman who seeks treatment. Accepting this reality, Fertility Boot Camp has always been for women. But over and over again it has been the request of the past participants to see how they can get their partners and spouses more involved. We know that couples do better when both partners are involved, creating synergy together. It’s better for their fertility and better for their relationship—it takes two to tango! So we are proud to announce the Fertility Boot Camp for Couples coming up in February.
This one-day event will be held Saturday, February 26th, at the Tiffani Kim Institute, 310 W. Superior in Chicago’s River North neighborhood from 9am-4pm. Throughout the day, delicious fertility-friendly lunch and snacks will be provided. All the participants of this event will receive a complimentary consultation with Dr. Eve Feinberg, a reproductive endocrinologist at Fertility Centers of Illinois. For more information, please visit www.tiffanikiminstitute.com under Fertility Boot Camp. I encourage you to read our testimonials from the past participants and see what they had to say. I hope you can join us on Saturday, February 26th for knowledge and empowerment!
